BioDuring the war, Hermione became a leading figure within the Order, along with Harry and Ron. Many were lost, but she continued to fight, believing that Harry would defeat the Dark Lord. But, as the final battle came, she got separated from Harry first, and then she got separated from Ron. She didn't find out about Harry's death until later and by that time, it was too late to run.
She was captured and marked as a slave, put on the slave market to be sold. For some reason she has yet to know, Draco Malfoy bought her, taking her back with him. He then locked her in a dark room, only to be seen by the house elves when they brought her meager rations of food. The only time Draco came to see her was when he wanted to use her body against her will. He continued to do this for a year.
One night, Draco had made a mistake and came into the room drunk. On his way out, he forgot to lock the door behind him. Hermione waited, ignoring the pain, until he had gone and then she escaped. Somehow, she found her way to Hogwarts where she found people already there, ready to help her. They had formed the Contention, people who were against Voldemort. They had gathered all the muggleborns and enslaved they could find, letting them roam free on the grounds.
Years later, Bill arrived to the castle, broken and with a small crup with him. Hermione decided to take of the job of helping him readjust, since he's been one of the longest in captivity so far. In the process, she began to fall for him. Even though she wants him, she's content to just be friends. She would rather have him ready for something than rush it.
